Easter Eggs
Nope not the kind you look for on Easter morning but little trinkets left inside of most commercial programs by the developer. Original easter eggs where included in programs to prove that the program really was written by the author who claimed it. When someone else would claim to have written the software the developer could say hey how do you make the software do this? Then demonstrate a hidden feature of the software that no one else knew about except the programmer. Over time easter eggs have remained quite popular among programmers though now less for the legal reasons than for the shear fun of hiding a secret game in there otherwise often boring program or to simply draw attention to themselves in the credits. Listed below are a few common easter eggs and instructions on how to access them.
